NIT Srinagar : Extension Center
 demand rejected

Central government rejected the NIT's  students demand to open a extension center anywhere else. Students met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh and HRD Minister Smiriti  Irani on Wednesday over demand to shift the NIT from Kashmir due to security concerns. All three minister straightway rejected the demand and assured security on the campus. Students requested central ministers for to open an extension center in Jammu on the pattern of BIT-Ranchi and IIIT-Allahabad, but they were not ready to accept this demand. Government don't wants to take any risk as Kashmir is already burning in clashes. According to a student, who met these ministers with his colleague told, The ministers did not cite any reason for not opening an extension centre in Jammu and just refused. We narrated the the entire sequence of events to them, but they did not give any answer except that this would not happen again. Meanwhile, parents were perplexed as they could not send their wards back to the insecure place. They were planning to appeal to the Supreme Court after the response of the Center. With these career of more then 1800 students future is on stake.
